Portillo Named Recipient of Kathleen McCluskey-Fawcett Woman Mentoring Women Award

Thursday, March 26, 2015

Professor Shannon Portillo has been selected to receive the 2015 Kathleen McCluskey-Fawcett Woman Mentoring Women Award. This important honor recognizes Shannon for the mentoring she provides to women at KU. In the notice announcing this award, the Emily Taylor Center for Women and Gender Equity noted that Shannon's “caring, inspiring support and guidance and ways in which [she lifts up] women are worthy of this special recognition.”

Shannon will be among those honored during the University of Kansas Women’s Recognition Banquet on Tuesday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Ballroom of the Kansas Union. This banquet has been a tradition on campus since the mid 1960’s and honors KU women students, faculty, staff, and alumnae who have enriched and improved the campus community through their service, teaching, or involvement. The banquet is open to the public.

You can see the history of honorees, including another School professor, Dr. Marilu Goodyear who received the McCluskey-Fawcett award in 2012, here: http://emilytaylorcenter.ku.edu/womens-recognition-honorees
