Jaron Balderes, a Mark Keane and Ethan Allen Scholar, began his career in public service by joining the United States Army after graduating high school. After completing his contract and 15-month deployment to Iraq, Jaron left the Army to pursue a college education. He graduated cum laude from Washburn University with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Peace, Justice, and Conflict Resolution studies in 2015. Jaron spent his time as an undergraduate student interning for Senate Minority Leader Anthony Hensley, for the City of Topeka’s City Manager’s Office, and also at the Topeka Center for Peace and Justice. After receiving his bachelor’s degree, Jaron worked for the State of Kansas, administering Worker’s Compensation.
