Goerdel launched annual research programming at The Commons

Tuesday, September 13, 2016

Holly T. Goerdel, Associate Professor of Public Administration, launched this year’s programming at The Commons with a presentation at the Red Hot Research event, September 9, 2016. The program is part of the University’s Research Sharing Sessions.

Dr. Goerdel presented research on health and housing insecurity and explored with the audience the potential for "Smart Cities" initiatives to further entrench inequality, rearrange power in local decision making, and increase bureaucratic surveillance of those inhabiting cities. These were offered as significant cautionary concerns for both scholars and practitioners to consider.
